Wal-Mart’s closure

Wal-Mart officials said the closure list included five stores, including Tampa, but declined to list others. According to local media reports in other cities, the list includes:

♦  The Brandon/Valrico Wal-Mart Supercenter at 1208 E. Brandon Blvd., closed Monday.

♦  A store in Odessa/Midland, Texas, according to a report in the Midland Reporter-Telegram.

♦  A store in Livingston, Texas, according to KTRE-TV.

♦  A store in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area, according to KOKI-TV.

♦  Friday, news reports emerged that a store in Pico Rivera, California, would also close, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune newspaper.

The timing of the closure, and its abrupt nature, remained something of a mystery Tuesday.
